Universities ultimately ignore students with opposing viewpoints at their peril. For far too long, they've been able to bully members from voicing legitimate opinions, but a reversal in approach finally seems to be gaining traction. Harvard's recovery will require humility, introspection, honesty, a sincere desire for change and caring leadership. I hope the soul-searching reveals a revitalized institution. God bless the courageous Salient staff for promoting free speech, fairness, the respect they give all students and for their much appreciated magazine.

Yes, reform ‘starts at the top’ but it requires leadership imbued with morality, vision and a sense of community cohesion. So far, Harvard seems bereft of this leadership as do so many other institutions. Seems like courage is out of favor.
