Wonderful article. 100% true. I would also add that some women prefer to work because running a home with young children is harder! At least till they are in school. God bless our stay at home moms, selflessly making the world better one day and one human at a time.
My husband used to tell me he got the ‘Sunday Blues’ knowing that a new work week was about to begin. Ironically, my Harvard daughter who works in finance told me she gets anxious as the weekend approaches because with three kids she’s on call 24/7 and won’t get a chance to rest! Working outside the home is ‘easier’ & more restful!!!
I’m pretty sure my dietitian daughter feels exactly like your daughter. I don’t think my stay-at-home wifey ever felt a similar anxiety, probably because our division of labor household actually simplified things overall, and on weekends I was actually around more to help. I honestly suspect the current two income model is overall the most stressful of all, especially for moms. In any case, I recall those Sunday blues very well (retired now).
